Canadian media giant Rogers -- already the owner of baseball's Toronto Blue Jays -- has made a billion-dollar bid to purchase the
NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs in a huge transaction with the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, owners of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.
The Toronto Star
reported the news Wednesday morning, citing unnamed sources. The newspaper reports the sale would also include the
NBA's Toronto Raptors and the Toronto FC soccer club, which plays in Major League
Soccer.
The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan owns a 66 percent stake, with a reported asking price of $1.3 billion.
