Did Blues? Barret Jackman prey on Matt Cooke?s reputation for boarding call? (Video)

With just over a minute remaining in regulation and the teams tied 2-2 on Tuesday night, Barret Jackman of the St. Louis Blues went to play the puck in the corner. Matt Cooke of the Pittsburgh Penguins was right on his tail and delivered a check.

What happened next is a point of some controversy:

Cooke, who was given a two-minute minor on the play, made contact with Jackman's left shoulder; but Jackman landed against the boards face-first. Did Cooke shove him? Did Jackman twist to play the puck and land awkwardly? Did Jackman actually turn his back and dive into the boards to draw a call on Cooke?

Honestly, I'm buying the latter theory.

The Blues wanted more than two minutes. Cooke looked generally baffled by the whole affair. What a weird play.

The Penguins won in the shootout, 3-2. Cooke now has 17 PIMs on the season ? very much within range to Cooke The Byng.
