Pass or Fail: Wilkes-Barre Penguins? Christmas sweater jerseys

It's the holiday season and that means non-stop seasonal commercials, overpacked shopping malls, spiked eggnog, candy canes, and of course, ugly, ugly Christmas sweaters.

In the spirit of the holidays and tradition, the Wilkes-Barre Penguins of the AHL are getting in on the act and have created a jersey to look like a sweater that could have found its way onto Max Talbot or Brent Johnson duringlast year's HBO 24/7.

Here's forward Brian Day displaying the Baby Pens' Christmas sweater jersey:

The Baby Pens will be wearing these jerseys on Dec. 17 against the Norfolk Admirals. After the game, fans will be able to bid on them via a live auction with proceeds benefiting the Penguins United Way Charity Fund and their own Tickets for Tots program.

Fans headed to the game are encouraged to wear their own ugly sweaters fitting right in with Penguins staff members who will be doing the same.

For us, these jerseys are a pass because we love minor league promotions and the tradition of the ugly Christmas sweater and it reminds us of some terrible gifts we received growing up. That being said, we would have loved a bit more ugly in them; maybe a random reindeer pattern or a couple giant ornaments placed somewhere on the sleeves.

Also, why isn't the penguin in the logo wearing said ugly sweater as well?

So what say you? Ugly? Or not ugly enough?
