Sunday?s Three Stars: Bobby Ryan drops a deuce on Blues

Sunday?s Three Stars: Bobby Ryan drops a deuce on Blues

No. 1 Star: Bobby Ryan, Anaheim Ducks

Dominant night for Ryan, who had two goals and an assist in the Ducks' 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues. He scored his first of the season at 2:20 of the first period, cashing in a rebound of a Francois Beauchemin shot. In the third, with the score tied, he dished to Beauchemin before the defenseman's point-shot goal. Then, with the score 3-1, Ryan beat Jaroslav Halak for his second of the game, the puck just squeezing through the pads.

No. 2 Star: Cory Perry, Anaheim Ducks

Perry's first of the season was a game-changer: Scoring on the power play (with helpers from Teemu Selanne and Ryan Getzlaf) for a 3-1 lead, less than three minutes before Ryan iced it in the third. Perry was also honored before the game for his Hart and Richard trophies last season.

No. 3 Star: Alex Steen, St. Louis Blues

Steen's sharp-angle shot from near the goal line beat Jonas Hiller for his third goal of the season at 9:38 of the third, from Jason Arnott and Barret Jackman.

Honorable mention: Beauchemin had a goal and an assist. Ryan Getzlaf and Luca Sbisa had two assists each ? Patrik Berglund had the Blues' other goal, deflecting an Alex Pietrangelo shot home. ? Hiller made 28 saves in the victory. ? Halak only made 19 saves in the loss, but several of them were high-quality stops.

Did you know? Prior to this game, the Perry-Getzlaf-Ryan line had put a combined 21 shots on net through the first three games without a goal. (AP)

Dishonorable mention: The Blues were 0-for-4 on the power play, and they're now 1-for-20 on the season. ? Nikita Nikitin was a minus-3, and his holding penalty had just expired when Ryan scored in the first. ? Silver lining: The Cardinals' game probably meant this effort by the Blues went somewhat unnoticed back home.
