Thursday's Boston-Dallas game has simply taken on a life of its own. It's like some sort of twisted combination of old-time hockey and anarchy taking place on ice. After the two teams combined for four fights in the first three minutes of regulation, including three in the first four seconds, the Bruins raced out to a 4-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play. The Stars also pulled starting netminder Andrew Raycroft after he surrendered two goals on the first two shots he faced.
If you were expecting things to calm down as the game progressed, you were mistaken.
Midway through the second frame, Boston's Daniel Paille was issued a match penalty for this blindside hit to the head of Stars forward Raymond Sawada as he was carrying the puck into the Bruins zone. It's a hit that has already sparked discussion as to how long he'll be suspended once the league reviews it.
