Versteeg, 24, adds to an already impressive group of Philadelphia forwards, scoring 14 goals to go with 21 assists in 53 games this season. Add him into a lineup that already includes Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Danny Briere, Claude Giroux, Ville Leino and Scott Hartnell up front, and the Flyers have one of the deepest groups of forwards in the NHL (to go with an equally impressive blue line). Already a contender in the East, this just makes the Flyers that much tougher to play against.
Versteeg has developed into a steady 20-goal, 50-point player that's also strong on the forecheck, and has Stanley Cup experience as part of last year's Blackhawks championship team (which beat the Flyers in the Finals) scoring six postseason goals. The Leafs acquired him as part of Chicago's salary cap roster purge this past summer in a deal that sent Viktor Stalberg and a couple of prospects to the Blackhawks.
