Marc Crawford Unhappy With Officiating After Loss to Chicago

Following the Dallas Stars 5-3 loss to Chicago on Wednesday night coach Marc Crawford had a bit of a meltdown directed at the officiating that unfolded during the game. The Stars had to kill six penalties on the night, while receiving only one power play (a bench minor against Chicago for too many men on the ice). A coach or player unhappy with the officiating when there's a disparity in penalty calls like that is nothing new, but that wasn't the focal point of Crawford's rant; it was a missed call late in the third period as the Stars were trying to tie the game when Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook threw his stick at a puck carrier -- Trevor Daley -- in the offensive zone that set the coach off.

By rule, if a player throws a piece of equipment -- like a stick, or, in the case of Scott Hartnell, a glove -- it should be either a minor penalty or a penalty shot. Rule 53.6 states the following regarding penalty shots:
