The Jets sniper set the pace for his team in a 4-1 victory at the Colorado Avalanche, snapping their 8-game home winning streak. He scored his 16th in the first period; after Tim Stapleton extended the lead 1:21 into the second period, Kane struck again: Recovering after being denied on a breakaway to receive a Chris Thorburn pass for his 17th. He finished plus-2. Ondrej Pavelec made 32 saves in the win.
No. 2 Star: Jarome Iginla, Calgary Flames
Iggy scored on the power play in the third period to answer Derick Brassard's tally in the second period, and then scored the lone goal of the shootout ? on a hunch by coach Brent Sutter to use him ? in the Calgary Flames' 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Iginla's goal was No. 498 in his career. Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves in the win.
No. 3 Star: Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning
Stamkos scored goals Nos. 21 and 22 on the season, tying him for the League lead, in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 5-1 thrashing of the Philadelphia Flyers. Mathieu Garon made 31 saves and Vinny Lecavalier scored his first goal since Dec. 10, which came against the Flyers.
Honorable mention: The Detroit Red Wings extended their home winning streak to 11 games with a 3-2 comeback win over the St. Louis Blues. Pavel Datsyuk assisted on Nicklas Lidstrom's power-play goal and then tipped home a perfect pass from Ian White to tie the game. Niklas Kronwall scored his eighth at 12:19 of the third for the game-winner. Jimmy Howard made 29 saves. Kevin Shattenkirk had two assists for the Blues. ? The Pittsburgh Penguins peppered Carolina backup keeper Justin Peters with 38 shots in the first two periods, producing only one goal. But overall, they responded to Tim Brent's first-period goal with four straight tallies from four different players, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-2. James Neal (his 21st), Steve Sullivan, Pascal Dupuis and Jordan Staal had the goals. ? Raphael Diaz had three assists while Mike Cammalleri, Erik Cole, Louie Leblanc, Tomas Plekanec and PK Subban each had a goal and an assist in the Montreal Canadiens' 6-2 win over the Ottawa Senators. Carey Price made 33 saves to give interim coach Randy Cunneyworth his first victory. ? Brian Campbell had three assists and Tomas Fleischmann scored a key third-period insurance goal to give the Florida Panthers a 5-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kris Versteeg and Jason Garrison scored power-play goals for injury ravaged Florida; Mikhail Grabovski scored twice for the Leafs. ?
