Nobody blocks Philadelphia Flyers Coach Peter Laviolette from his dressing room, darn it. Especially not Steve Ott. Here's what happened after the first period on Wednesday night between Lavy and Otter, which sounds like a delightful children's book.
The incident occurred in a rather contentious game between the inter-conference rivals. Via The 700 Level:
The extracurricular activity continued in the second period with Ott chirping with the entire Flyers bench. Marc-Andre Bourdon tried to go at it with him, dropping the gloves but once he did, Ott never engaged, sending the Flyer to the box for two minutes.
At the end of the second period, officials instructed Laviolette and the Flyers to leave the ice through the Zamboni door on the far end of the rink, with the coach shuffling down the pond in his loafers.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, it'll be NHL VP Colin Campbell's call as to whether Laviolette is in the wrong; remember, Brendan Shanahan is head of the department of player safety.
Sadly, this incident occurred roughly two hours after this week's episode of HBO "24/7" was put to bed. There's always next week!
UPDATE: Via Anthony San Filippo, here's Steve Ott:
Damn that Laviolette and his arrogance.
