Let the fire sale begin in Ottawa -- and the job applications for new general manager and possibly a new coach of the Senators to start pouring in.Ottawa Senators' owner Eugene Melnyk has had enough, and he's ready to sweep the deadwood out of the dressing room and begin the search for a new GM and possibly a new coach being in place for next season.
Melynk told the Ottawa Sun from his home in the Barbados that both GM Bryan Murray and coach Cory Clouston will finish the season (the Senators sit in 13th place in the Eastern Conference after Sunday's games).
"The time has come to make some of the most difficult decisions that an owner can make,'' said Melnyk. "Do we need a game-changer? I believe we do. I've lost sleep. Bryan Murray loses sleep. Cory Clouston loses sleep. Everybody who loves this team doesn't sleep well at night."
Getting rid of Clouston won't cost the Senators a nickel as his contract expires at the end of the season. The same goes for Murray whose his contract is up.
