By now you already know the story: The Boston Bruins traded Phil Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs prior to last season for a number of draft picks (including two first round selections), one of which turned out to be the No. 2 overall pick in this past summer's NHL draft. That pick was used on forward Tyler Seguin.Kessel, of course, is an excellent player, having scored at least 30 goals in each of the past two seasons, and already lighting the lamp seven times in nine games this season for the Leafs. Still, from Boston's perspective the trade has the potential to be a franchise-changing event -- assuming the Bruins draft well and Seguin turns out to be as good as advertised -- as it already has one top-two selection, Seguin, and has one more first-round pick coming next summer.
On Thursday, Seguin and Kessel faced off for the first time -- in Boston -- with the Bruins coming out on top with a 2-0 victory. Oh, and Seguin scored one of the goals, prompting Bruins fans to offer up a mock chant of "Thank You Kessel."
