Last weekend, the Minnesota Wild were left with one NHL-caliber goaltender, as Josh Harding blew out his knee during a preseason game. It's an injury that will cost Harding the entire season before it even starts. After a week of looking around for a goalie the Wild could use as a backup to former All-Star Niklas Backstrom, they have decided on former Hart Trophy winner Jose Theodore.
Most recently with the Capitals, Theodore has been a free agent since July 1, and he has finally agreed to terms with a team, signing a one-year deal with the Wild. Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune tweeted the news from Finland -- where Minnesota opens the season Thursday -- after general manager Chuck Fletcher agreed to terms with Theodore's agent, Don Meehan.
