We've seen a few borderline hits so far in this NHL season. For the most part, though, it seems players are adapting to new guidelines regarding hits to the head.Sunday night is a notable exception.
Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan could be facing a suspension from the league after a hard hit on Anaheim Ducks forward Dan Sexton Sunday night.
Doan is known for his hard-nosed style, and he's never been afraid of playing the game with an edge. He isn't really a dirty player, though, and so Sunday's hit of Sexton -- while maybe not a malicious intent to injure -- is a bit out of character.
