Randy Sexton is out and, in a mild surprise, Dale Tallon is in as general manager of the Florida Panthers. The news, first reported by Steve Gorten of the Sun-Sentinel, will be made official at a Tuesday morning press conference. The 59-year-old Tallon has spent the last 33 years in the Chicago Blackhawks organization as a player, broadcaster and front office excecutive. As the team's general manager from 2005-2009, he is credited with building the Blackhawks team that is currently up 1-0 over San Jose in the Western Conference Final. He drafted young building blocks Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. He signed free agents Brian Campbell and Marian Hossa and acquired Patrick Sharp and Kris Versteeg in trades. While he was assistant general manager, the Blackhawks picked up Dave Bolland and Troy Brower in the 2004 draft.
