Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher has spent most of his offseason restructuring his team's depth down the middle, not only by locking up the club's franchise player, Mikko Koivu, to a seven-year extension, but also by adding Matt Cullen via free agency. He continued to add to Minnesota's center position on Friday by inking veteran John Madden to a one-year contract.According to Wild beat writer Mike Russo, the deal is worth $1 million and contains up to $250,000 in bonuses.
Madden spent the 2009-10 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring 10 goals in 79 regular season games, after spending the first 10 years of his career with the New Jersey Devils. He originally signed with New Jersey as an undrafted free agent in June 1997.
