Brett Sutter Traded to Hurricanes in Four-Player Deal

The Calgary Flames traded troubled forward Brett Sutter and defenseman Ian White to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for defenseman Anton Babchuk and forward Tom Kostopoulos.

Sutter, whose father Darryl is the Flames' general manager and uncle Brent is the team's coach, was dealt just about a week after being jailed for getting into a fight outside an Arizona bar where he allegedly punched a cab driver. Shortly after the incident, he was sent down to the Flames' AHL affiliate. He will now report to Carolina's AHL affiliate in Charlotte. He has only played in four games this season for the Flames. Sutter will join his cousin, Brandon -- the son of Brent -- in Carolina where he serves as an alternate captain.
