Just wanted to extend a hearty 'thanks' to everyone that came out and reveled in the nonsense that was the Puck Daddy NYC Viewing Party for the New York Islanders and New York Rangers game last night. Which, naturally, was a defensive snoozefest after a chaotic, awesome game on Long Islande 24 hours earlier.
Well, at least I was wearing my homemade Fishsticks shirt to commemorate the Islanders' loss ...
Stick-tap to Leahy for organizing the venue and these little trinkets given out to those in attendance: Puck Daddy pucks, courtesy of our friends at the NHL Store Powered by Reebok, which also donated signed Vinny Lecavalier and Rick Nash sweaters that two lucky attendees won in our raffle.
Oh, the memories, hazy as they are. The NSFW reaction to winning a Don Cherry book. The odd tradition of chanting "USA, USA" when someone would smash a pint on the floor. The Australians who joined the party late and allowed us to learn of their culture and loathing of New Zealand.
Too many people to thank for popping in and saying hey. Perhaps our proudest moment: That Chris Botta purchased a beer for fellow Islanders blogger and frequent sparring partner BD Gallof. Let the healing begin.
Thanks again to The Irish Times in Manhattan for the hospitality. Thanks to Leahy (middle, Nords shirt). And thanks to everyone who attended for allowing Lambert (hipster, right) to get through an entire party without an angry reader punching him in the face.
So after D.C., Toronto, Vancouver and New York, where's the next Puck Daddy Viewing Party?
