The Anaheim Ducks beat Phoenix Tuesday night, but did suffer a key loss during the game. Top-line center and team captain Ryan Getzlaf was hit in the forehead by a puck and had to leave the game. The team has announced that Getzlaf underwent a CT scan Wednesday. That exam showed he suffered multiple nasal sinus fractures as a result of the play, and Getzlaf has been placed on injured reserve. That move rules him out of games Friday against Philadelphia and Sunday against Chicago.
Getzlaf, who has 12 goals and 37 points in 40 games (second on the team in scoring to Corey Perry), will see a specialist to see what can be done about the injury, as well as to determine how long he will have to be out of the lineup.
