Wednesday's Three Stars: Three for Eaves; Ward blanks Ottawa

No. 1 Star: Patrick Eaves, Detroit Red Wings

Down 3-1 early in the second period to the Dallas Stars, Eaves and Red Wings would score six unanswered goals to complete a 7-3 comeback victory. Eaves scored the tying goal late in the second period and then Detroit's final two of the night to complete his first hat trick and added an assist on Kris Drapers second of the year. Nicklas Lidstrom, Todd Bertuzzi, Johan Franzen, and Jiri Hudler each had two points in the win.

No. 2 Star: Cam Ward, Carolina Hurricanes

Stopping 37 Ottawa shots for his second shutout the season, Ward helped Carolina take four points from their Ontario trip with a 3-0 win over the Senators. The shutout was the 14th of Ward's career. Zach Boychuk scored twiced and Patrick Dwyer contributed two points, giving him four in his past two games.

No. 3 Star: Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

New York continued their dominance over the New Jersey Devils this season winning 3-1 behind Lundqvist's 43 saves and goals from Brian Boyle, Michal Rozsival and Brandon Dubinsky. The Rangers improved to 3-0-0 against the Devils this year and have now won five of their last seven games.

Honorable mention: Rick DiPietro made 37 saves in regulation and overtime, and then two of Pittsburgh's four shootout attempts as the New York Islanders got past the Penguins 2-1 ...  Scottie Upshall and Keith Yandle each had three points and Shane Doan scored twice as Phoenix upended Los Angeles 6-3 in a game that featured a wild seven-goal first period. Coyotes rookie winger Brett MacLean scored his first career goal on his first NHL shift ... Entering the third period against San Jose down 3-2, the Minnesota Wild scored three time in a 5:21 span en route to a 5-3 win over the Sharks. Kyle Brodziak beat Antero Niittymaki twice and Brent Burns added his 11th goal. Niklas Backstrom made 29 stops in the win. Brodziak's second of the night was a nifty bank shot:

Did you know? Shane Doan now has 36 career two-goal games, but has yet to record a hat trick. 

Dishonorable mention: Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas was a minus-four for the second time this season ... Not only did the Islanders beat Pittsburgh, but Sidney Crosby's 25-game point streak came to an end as well.
