The Colorado Avalanche announced Tuesday the team had re-signed its captain and longtime leader, Adam Foote, to a one-year contract. The deal will run through the 2010-2011 season, which will be Foote's 19th season in the NHL. A model of consistency at the defensive position, Foote played a prominent role for the Avalanche during their Stanley Cup victories in 1996 and 2001. "Adam's veteran leadership has been and will continue to be a big part of our success," said Avalanche general manager Greg Sherman. "He provided stability last season and set an example for our young players right from the start of training camp. We are pleased to have our captain back for another year."
