Brett Sutter apologized Monday for an incident in which he punched a cab driver outside an Arizona bar."I want to apologize to my family, my friends, our fans and the entire Flames family for what took place this past Wednesday night," the Flame said. "My background is one of hard work and respect, so this incident is totally out of character for me."
According to police, Sutter was just thrown out of the bar for being "disorderly and extremely intoxicated," and punched the driver randomly. Witnesses claim Sutter hit the driver unprovoked and continued walking afterward as if nothing had happened. While the man wasn't seriously injured, he wished to press charges.
It got worse for Sutter Monday, as the Flames re-assigned him to their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.
Sutter, 23, is the son of GM Darryl Sutter and nephew of coach Brent.
