With Wednesday's addition of Rob Niedermayer, the Buffalo Sabres added some center depth to their roster, inking the 35-year-old veteran to a reported one-year deal worth just over $1 million. He'll be joining a roster that already has multiple options at center, including Derek Roy and Tim Connolly, who will be handling the first and second line duties. Paul Gaustad, one of the NHL's best players in the faceoff circle, is also on the roster, which leaves Niedermayer as a likely option on the third line.

He's coming off a 10-goal, 12-assist season with the New Jersey Devils, after spending the previous six years as a member of the Anaheim Ducks. Throughout his 16-year career he's also spent time with the Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames, and has played in the Stanley Cup Finals three times, helping the Ducks win their only championship during the 2006-07 season as part of a shutdown line with Samuel Pahlsson and Travis Moen.
